摘要(Abstract)：

勇气是希腊哲人阐述的四大美德中的一种,它同样出现在孔子的论述中。在现代文化中,勇气被定义为一种独特的勇敢行为。本文将勇气置于更大范围的哲学讨论中,讨论品性及情感对伦理行为的影响,并且在新闻专业主义的概念下审视作为专业实践的勇气。勇敢的记者需要勇敢的组织作为支持。虽然本文承认某些特殊的情境需要个人的勇气,但是也认为:形成专业品性的勇气根植于日常的职责——它使新闻活动中哪怕最常规的琐事都能保持高度的伦理水准。这种高水准的常规表达,亦即日常生活中实践的勇气,不仅塑造了个人的品性,也形成了组织的品性,其结果便是在需要时参与勇敢行动的专业团结。它产生了专业的优秀,并加强了新闻工作者与其服务的公众之间的联系。
